Volunteers Make the Difference

In all of our projects volunteers make the difference between a service being provided and one remaining absent. Whether a child goes to school or remains illiterate washing windshields at traffic lights, or whether an ill mother receives medical care or remains bedridden without hope all depends on the constant support of volunteers.

Volunteer support is primarily provided by the Spanish students who attend Pop Wuj - Spanish School Guatemala.  Students in the Medical Program volunteer in the clinic and students in any of the programs can volunteer in the stoves, the family support center, and the environmental projects. Students who participate in the Social Work Program often volunteer with the scholarship program and/or take on leadership roles in the projects.

Long-Term Volunteers and Interns

Pop Wuj welcomes long-term volunteers and interns in our projects through a partnership with Entremundos, a Quetzaltenango-based NGO that provides capacity-building and networking services to local development organizations and works to connect social, economic, environmental and cultural projects in Quetzaltenango and the surrounding regions with skilled foreign and local volunteers.
